Future Park – VI

As part of a larger master-planning, landscape and architectural design scheme signage and interpretation information was designed to introduce visitors to key project locations and information. The graphic language used supports the overall design strategy and also echoes the forms and landscape design that can be found within the park.

Modern, streamlined lines represent the individual paths, united and moving into the future together. The lines also are representative of the flow of power and relate back to the clients business, Power China

Children’s Hospital – VI

Hospitals can be intimidating, dehumanising spaces and that is particularly true for hospitals that cater to children. This visual identity and signage design system is intended to create a more playful, informal method of interaction and way-finding that helps children and parents feel comfortable in the space.

Utilising calm soft colour palettes and warm wood together with the design motif of the rounded cube the design game-ifies signage, making the VI system float within the interior volumes. The colour system is used to differentiate buildings and zones for different user groups so they feel connected with their hospital visit experience.

Jiulong River – VI

Full signage system design and branding for a hospital in Zhangzhou China. The focus of the project was on the creation of a unique IP for the hospital that was first realised as the signage and way-finding system and that would then be implemented in the branding collateral for the projects such as website, documentation and other VI elements. The signage sits comfortably within the colour system of the hospital and uses strong accent colour to help users determine the most relevant information to them on their journey moving through the hospital.

Zhang House

Zhang house is an experimental dwelling in the mountains of eastern China’s Jiangsu province. The house is situated at the base of a steep bamboo forested mountain and is designed around the remnants of a historic timber frame house on existing on the site. The building form envelopes the timber frame structure, acting as a means to protect and enclose it as a treasured part of the site.

The building is cast in concrete, the interior free from any walls or columns, function boxes float within the volume to allow a continuous edge between the facade and interior. The window reveals hint at the thickness of the buildings external walls, highly insulated, structural concrete planes punctured by pure square apertures.

Elangeni House

Elangeni House is a small off the grid holiday residence/retreat in the mountains in the mid north coast of New South Wales. The design utlises a lot of existing building materials, all the windows and doors were salvaged from nearby demolition works, the roof and wall sheeting is also retrieved from another project.

The house is sited to ensure great views and also close access to a nearby bush trail to aid in access. Cost control for the project was vital as the client anticipates the building may be lost to fire during the coming decades. Light on the ground, light on the wallet, a humble structure in tune with nature.

ModHomes Model 1

This single story CLT housing model ranges from compact 50m2 through to 150m2. Designed to be delivered to rural or remote areas and packed into a shipping container this design offers very high specification materials and performance as well as very fast construction time in a package that comes in at lower than conventional construction systems. Designed as a retreat, addition or standalone dwelling. Modular construction system allows for limited customisation.

Single Apartment

This small single bedroom apartment is designed for sole occupancy. The female client requested a calm and clean material selection with hints of luxury in some materials. The built in cabinetry is designed to rationalise the space and keep the relatively tight floor area free from unnecessary clutter whilst also prolonging a visual organising feature about the apartment entrance.
