The Wuxi Hospital is a very large project that will become the new campus for two existing local hospitals to join together, share resource and grow into the future. The project concept focuses on a multi-centric, independent access, dependent operation model with a central core that achieves staffing and medical resource efficiency.
The facade design utilises a double skin system with an external mesh layer providing sun shading for the main facade to reduce the solar heat loading on the building and to make the depth of the window reveal feel very private in order to give a feeling of intimacy for occupants. Central courtyard puncture each block from roof to basement level to draw light into all rooms and to reduce the depth of the building unless medical function requires it.
